SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

All of our software is available for both Mac and Windows platforms with minimal hardware requirements. No keyboard is necessary for most of our software products - only a mouse, trackball or trackpad and clicker. This makes them ideal for use in a kiosk environment. Only MediaShow requires a high-end computer to run at its best. However, the higher the processor speed and the more memory you have installed on your computer, the better your experience will be!

SPACE UPDATE

Space Update requires 600 MB of free hard disk space for a full install, or 110-180 MB free for each individual stand-alone module (Sky Tonight is the largest because of the sky-view files included). The first time you install Space Update, a high-speed internet connection is essential to download sky movies for a specific latitude or year not included on the disk. Both real-time images and instructive sample images are provided. Web references are always available, so that a visitor can learn more on his or her own. The system is all "point and click", with no technical ability required. Reading level is middle-school, although even non-readers enjoy the simple navigation and gorgeous imagery. The software is easy to use - each image can update on demand with a single click, like a browser, but since it is a captive program, it is safe for unsupervised use (the visitors are not allowed unlimited access to the often inappropriate material on the web). Included on the CD-ROM are stand-alone versions of each of the modules, plus a linked version of the total Space Update program. The architecture is simple and open - users can easily find the images or movies on the CD and use them in creating curricula or student reports. Museums can order special full-screen versions that blank out the menu bars, keeping the users from accessing the desktop.

EARTH UPDATE

Earth Update requires 600 MB of free hard disk space for a full install, or 60-120 MB free for each individual stand-alone module (Sky Tonight is the largest because of the sky-view files included). MEDIASHOW

MediaShow can be used on a machine with the requirements above, but is designed for high-end computers, as its intended use is for showing high resolution full-dome video files in a multi-display environment. A computer that can support video mirroring or dual-displays is required (1920 x 1080 pixels is the maximum resolution of the full-dome video files). We recommend the following system minimums:
